John D. Weaver (1912-2002)

John D. Weaver was born on February 4, 1912 in Washington, District of Columbia, USA as John Downing Weaver. Weaver received a bachelor’s degree from the College of William and Mary and a master’s from George Washington University. He was a writer, known for the films: Holiday Affair (1949), and the American Playhouse episode “American Principle,” and Dreamboat (1952), all based on is short stories. He was married to Chica Weaver and Harriett Weaver. He died on December 4, 2002 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
His book, The Brownsville Raid led to the exoneration of 167 black soldiers who had been discharged without honor 64 years earlier.
Was a prominent figure on the Los Angeles literary scene for nearly half a century.
Was West Coast editor of Holiday, and Travel, and Leisure magazines and wrote hundreds of short stories, articles and book reviews for Harper’s, Atlantic Monthly, Saturday Evening Post, New West and other magazine [Mostly from IMDb]
